Trip to Gettysburg Battlefield

Club member Rick Kohler will lead a tour of the Gettysburg Battlefield.  Rick a licensed tour guide for Gettysburg has extensive knowledge of the battle and the human elements of the war.  We will be visiting several historic sites during the tour.

Dinner will be at the Appalachian Brewing Company in Gettysburg.

The group will depart from Martins in Duncansville at 8:00 am.

Trip to Gettysburg Battlefield – September 13, 2025

• Group will meet at Martin’s in Duncansville and leave promptly at 8:00 am.
• Group will meet Rick and Deb at Hoss’s in Huntingdon about 8:30 am

Travel:

• Travel Route 22 East towards Huntingdon.
• Stop at Hoss’s then continue Route 22 East to Route 522 South.
• Travel on Route 522 South to Route 641East.
• Travel Route 641 East to Route 997 East.
• Rest Stop at Sheetz, 8000 Olde Scotland Road Shippensburg, PA 17257.
• Travel Route 997 East to Route 30 East.

Tour:

1. Lee’s Headquarters is on the left approaching Gettysburg.
   401 Buford Avenue Gettysburg, PA – Parking lot on the left
   Introduction to the Civil war – 1^st day of battle discussed.
2. Enter Confederate Avenue, across the street from parking lot
   We will pull over on Confederate Avenue to discuss – 2^nd day of battle.
3. Continue Confederate Avenue driving past Big Round Top, Little Round Top Devils Den, The Valley of Death, Wheatfield, back to Hancock Avenue past the Pennsylvania Monument.
   We will pull over discuss 3^rd day of battle, the High-Water Mark of the Confederacy.

Food Stop:  A Late Lunch will be at the Appalachian Brewing Company,
259 Steinwehr Avenue, Gettysburg, PA 17325.

After lunch you have several options in Gettysburg before traveling back to Altoona.
